HELP NEEDED
BLHA IS LOOKING FOR A 'SHORELINES'
CO-EDITOR/COORDINATOR FOR 2022
AND A NEW EDITOR FOR 2023!
For the last 3 years Jean Egerman has been the editor of our 3 issuesof Shorelines. Jean took over and gave our Shorelines a fresh new look. Although Jean has moved back to St Paul she has volunteered to help out one more year.
We need someone to help Jean coordinate the content that goes into our 3 issues of Shorelines. A typical issue of Shorelines includes a recipe, 3-4 articles, 6-8 color photos, and many pieces of content that are used every year such as Save the Date, BLHA meeting info, boat parade info and more. Current members contribute photos and articles to each issue.
All of the advertising is handled by current board member Terry Hauer. All of the layout is handled by Gayle Olson from the ICCPA out of the Frederic office. We feel this position can be a lot of fun. Work on the June issue typically starts in April and work for the year is done when we finish up the August issue in early July. Our current editor, Jean Egerman has fine-tuned a great schedule for completing our 3 issues in timely manner.
We need someone who is organized and can help collect articles that are sent in by members. Someone who might have interest in writing an article about the Balsam Community would be a great candidate. From there our co-editors forward the content and photos to Gayle at the ICCPA who lays it out. Gayle is a contract worker for the BLHA who does this work in the evenings and weekends. Our current editor Jean Egerman is just starting to look into our June issue. If you have any interest in taking this position. While laying the out the 3 issues of Shorelines for the year, the person taking on this new position would work with Jean to assist our new co-editor to teach them the process. Jean has not decided if she will continue to work on Shorelines after 2022. Ideally this position would transform into the sole position as editor in 2023. This position of co-editor would also be open to couples or two friends who might want to assume this position in future years.
We have all enjoyed reading the BLHA Shorelines for many years. It has been organized and coordinated by BLHA members. The three issues of Shorelines are one of the things that make Balsam Lake one of the most unique and special lakes in the Midwest.
